Persian Clover is a tall upright self-regenerating annual legumewith pink-violet flowerswhich can produce excellent forage and hay and is suited to the 450mm plus rainfall zones. It is highly palatable to animals with no risk to breeding stockRegrowth after grazing is excellent and it has as high a nutritive value as pasture or hay.
The soft seeded Persian Clover is a mid to late season flowering winter to spring option selected for its early seedling vigour and its ability to provide large quantities of high quality forage over the late winter spring periods.Unlike the hard-seeded earlyflowering types the soft seeded annual Persian Clover will provide very good production into the mid to late spring periods and will add excellent value to either silage or hay.
Shaftal Persian Clover can be grown on a wide range of soil types, has goodtolerance to water loggingas well as being moderately tolerant to salinity.It has good heat tolerance as well as quite tolerant to frost and cold but it is slower growing at low temperaturesItis well suited to rotational grazing systems sown with other annual legumes and ryegrass.
